It is exciting to see our book beginning to gain buzz!

The Beet interviewed Dr. Jason Fung, co-author with Eve Mayer and Megan Ramos of Life in the Fasting Lane due on bookshelves on April 7. Lucy Danziger, the former editor-in-chief of the very popular Self magazine, admitted Dr. Fung taught her a thing or two about intermittent fasting (IF).

“When Dr. Fung explains the science of how fasting works, he unwound decades of scientific "knowledge" I had held dear. In short, he is extremely convincing,” Danziger shared.

Dr. Fung through his study of kidney diseases, such as diabetes, discovered IF can help anyone to empower their weight loss while avoiding brain fog or lack of energy between meals.

"What we were doing was treating patients with medication and insulin and it didn't work. And that impacted a lot of patients I was seeing. And I realized that what we were doing was treating it backward. The causality goes from obesity to diabetes to kidney disease and then dialysis. So we have to treat the obesity -- not the kidney failure -- because if you treat obesity then you can reverse type-2 diabetes. I know this because I tried it. And my patients who did it got better."

Their improvement was a result of driving their insulin levels lower through fasting to encourage your body to burn stored fat.
