A Story of Perseverance
/This year has been trying for many of us. There are so many things happening that are out of our control, and it can be easy to feel like a victim of circumstance. It's important to remember the things that we do have control over, so that when life feels overwhelming, we can redirect our focus.
A lot of things are stalled right now, but there's no reason your healthy living goals have to be a part of that category.
Recently, Prevention magazine featured Jackie Wilson, a single mom and HR Manager who discovered fasting in January of 2020. After a lifetime of battling weight issues, she knew she'd finally found the method that would work for her. In her first two weeks of doing 16/8 fasts, Jackie lost 13 pounds and was confident this was a lifestyle she could maintain.
Then Covid-19 upended her life. She lost her job, and her son's school closed. Suddenly she found herself in the position of homeschooling and job hunting at the same time. For many of us, that might have been the turning point where we threw our hands in the air and reached for a chocolate cake.
But Jackie stayed the course. She turned to motivating resources like Life in the Fasting Lane and, especially the LIFE Fasting Tracker app, where she found community support. Research shows that social support makes a difference when it comes to sticking with a long-term goal or a lifestyle change.
Jackie's journey is a story of perseverance. Because she stuck with her goals through such a challenging time in life, she's now lost over 50 pounds, and she's not stopping! Jackie is healthier, lighter, and more energized. Now she wants to encourage others to make positive changes in their lives, too.
If you want to learn more about Jackie's story, check out her article in Prevention, and keep an eye on the Fasting Lane podcast. We are excited to share that Jackie will be an upcoming guest—we'll let you know when her interview is live!
In the meantime, we hope you find motivation in Jackie's story, and strength in your own commitment to your health and well-being. Whatever your current goals are, don't give up on yourself, especially not now.
